3WW Flash Fiction - Today's Sunset

Hastily written for 3 Word Wednesday. Prompt words: abandoned, gradual, precise.

May 27, 2010 from my living room window

As twilight worked towards its end,
I abandoned my work
and set about
to close the blinds for the night.

Hands on the cord to drop the shades,
I stood and watched
the gradual decline of the day
into the night.

It’s a wonder
how precise this world
was made for us.

Assured that the sun will rise
and set each night,
whether covered by clouds
or the open, bright blue.

We can count on it being there for us
to stand and view,
to take a deep breath
and whisper our thanks
for the beautiful skies
at the end of the storm.

What a beautiful poem about the sunset -- speaks so well to the cycles of life and how during periods of darkness, we can count on renewal to come. Huge (((((((((KS hugs)))))))).

I like that Dorothy. Comforting, somehow.
